The fall season kicked off with the customary opening game against Hartford. With three 30 minute periods and rolling hockey style substitutions, many different combinations were tried out and and alot of new guys got some good time. The results: New Haven Rugby is a growing force at the top of New England rugby. The depth of the side was shown in the fact that six different players scored tries and three kicked through the posts. Throughout all the substitutions the team played seamless, good, continuous rugby. This fall is going to very exciting!!

The club continued to sharpen its preseason form as it ran at will against the opposition. Much work remains to be done before our NERFU opener at the Wolfhounds.

This match is always one of the most contested, hardest fought games in the fall NERFU schedule and this one was a real burner. New Haven took an early lead only to see the 'hounds' launch a surge to retake the lead. New Haven took the lead again and held it deep into injury time when the referee awarded a penalty to the hounds. They spilt the posts to steal a two point lead as the final whistle blew.

The innaugural COORS LIGHT Cup was also New Haven Rugby's home opener played on an improved Boulevard Field in beautiful conditions. Albany came out of the chute at full speed and took an early ten point lead. After a slow start New Haven settled into form and built on momentum to run away with a six try to one victory.

New Haven too ak an early 10-0 lead in the first few minutes of the game and never looked back. Worcester was unable to get anything going more than a few phases and was down 27-0 going into half. New Haven dominated almost every part of the game and showed outstanding defense that drove Worcester backwards all game. B-side was slower to start and had some early discipline problems but pieced together some outstanding play and kept the wormtown guys scoreless through both games.

Outstanding conditions and the artificial surface at Mystic's Pine Banks pitch set the stage for a good match. Mystic started strong and pressured throughout the game. New Haven, after a slow first half, weathered the surges and stuck to the game plan. The game was a spirited affair and despite many tests to our discpline, we maintained focus and built on our lead in the second half.

Ny Manhattan took an early 3 point lead a few minutes in on a penalty. It was the only lead they would have and also the only points they would score. New Haven woke up after going down three and settled into form to go up 22-3 at the half. With the wind in our face in the second half the traffic was all one way. We contolled posession, built on momentum, and ran in several tries in the second half to run away with the match 63-3 at the final whistle.
