NEW HAVEN RUGBY Boston RFC, September 17, 2005 NEW HAVEN RUGBY

Well the field was a bit sloppy and the play followed suit. Down 4 starters and two key reserves the team was in a bit of disarray and it showed early and often as the boys were not able to respond to the adversity. An early try got the Boston team started. New Haven bounced back with a brilliant try from Andrew (Tui) Osborne who probably had the best game of anyone on the team. Although bottled up on offense for the most part his defense had the opposing #13 stymied. A second try from the Captain deep inside Boston territory gave the visitors a glimmer of hope, but the momentum was never really sustained.

Sloppy play and a lot of barking at the ref was on the menu for the second half. Battling some internal demons the visitors never really mounted a serious threat in the second half and were dealt a second half shutout for their troubles. They eventually fell to a decent Boston team, who won by making less mistakes, 21-12 earning a goose egg for the weekend.

The B side did not fare much better. Lacking some of the depth and experience from the Old Boys the weekend prior they looked a bit out of synch most of the game. Although they played valiantly they were never able to provide a sustained attack. A notable performance was given by Lance Armstrong who gave the team double duty and played extremely well in both. Unfortunately I screwed up and gave him a post game shot that he actually liked (I will not make that mistake again). Special thanks to everyone who put in double time (Matt Pick, Cali Chris and I anyone else that I forgot.)

On a surprising note we did not have to go fully into Boston for the drink up and the Boston team actually showed up n full force. I actually pooped myself upon seeing this. Also the team had a bowl of chips and dip to take in before the meal came out. We need to look into this. But alas Boston lived up to pre-game hype with no after match cheers. Although I hate losing to Boston I do enjoy the city. Joey Mushroom, the Dutchman and myself stuck around up there. The former two had some quality time with their sweeties, me I drank for all three of us. I got it covered boys..Until next week, make sure you drink your milk and tip your waitress you never know when one may actually give you her phone number.

Man of the Match
A - Lance Armstrong (Jake)
B - Jake (Lance Armstrong)
