So due to some brilliant planning by the one and only Burtee we were able to score a Sunday match that was on our way back from Maryland and a team that was well suited for a Sunday. Unfortunately we did not realize that it was St. Patty's Day Parade back home....well maybe Burt did and this was his plan for payback of years of booking hotels and flights.

Anyway, the boys woke up fresh as daisies. Except for the ones who were up doing shooters with coach and the ones who were hitting on elderly women on the dance floor and the ones who were eating late night pizza and the ones who headed into the city and came out of the bar when the sun came up. So basically we were ready to rock.

Upon arriving (late) to Doylestown we noted that they had new (I think sherbet colored) jerseys and a clubhouse. We only had one clean set of jerseys (due to the game on Saturday) and dressed in the vans. On paper a virtual draw. So it looked like it was going to be an uphill battle - on two fronts... the pitch which was in excellent condition but had a nice gradient, and Doylestown looking like a big and useful side.

Yet again the guys knuckled down to business and with Alfie controlling the forwards and Jason the backs, it wasn't long before cracks started to appear in the Doylestown side. Yet again with room to run and plenty of water on the ground to re-hydrate with Ewan the Animal Steele continued his torrid pace with 2 more tries and Mr. Cotter, Jarod Morrison, had a blinder pouring in 3. It has been a while since the game (due to coach request not to post details until the season began) so I cannot recall the manner in which these were scored but I am sure most of them were brilliant multiple phase tries with good ball handling and even better support. Either that or one man runs with poor tackling from the opposition, it's a toss up really. The rest of the team also contributed mightily with excellent support play thus securing tries for Vic, Leo and Alfie.

Alfie made good his promise and made amends for Saturday with 5 conversions. Doylestown managed to score three tries to upset the Coach; however I'm sure that Tuesday nights practice in his own sweet inimitable way will make us pay. A Final score A side 55 - 15 an grand day out.

The B Team had their work cut out from a big hearted, try anything side though coming out winning 7 - 3 and never looking in trouble the guys were disappointed they didn't rattle up more points. Hats off to Doylestown B side. They never gave up trying and tackled like demons. John and Bossman were awesome in the scrum. The game also saw a dramatic return from the Red Baron, Jay Rubino. This action figure came complete with the World War II flying helmet and screams going down in the tackle. Good times for the whole family there.

The drink was well done with a strange finger food smorgasbord, which kept everyone full. The beer was the best I have had since the Hounds used to be outfitted with Guinness after the game. Thanks to the guys from Doylestown and onto Hartford....
