Game summary

W 37-23 New Haven A vs Mystic River A
W 48-5  New Haven B vs Mystic River B

New Haven played some of the most disciplined rugby of the year and was able
to keep most of the possession throughout the game.  Led by Victor Milani,
whose motor never seems to stop, the home team's pack eventually wore down
the visitors and with a late try by Ewan Robinson New Haven secured a vital
37-23 victory and first place in the DI NERFU Conference.

Game summary

the maximum five points from the weekend (4 for the victory, 1 for scoring
4+ tries). Imports Ewen, Jacko, and Tui led the way. The victory puts New

Game summary

24 September, Saturday | Dick Green Field | Albany, NY
W 39-24 New Haven A @ Albany A
L 12-25  New Haven B @ Albany B

New Haven entered the game down four starters including key imports Ewen, Wardy, and Tui as well as captain Jason Smith but was able to emerge with a victory and five points in the standings.  After a back and forth game New Haven pulled ahead on a brilliant 70 meter run by Jacko Ah Hoy resulting in an offload to rookie Lance Armstrong streaking down the sideline for a try under the posts.  Rookie Ryan put in another try on the other wing and Brendan Smith hit a 40 meter penalty to secure the margin of victory.  Jacko was Man of the Match for his inspired running, tackling, and leadership on the field.

Game summary

17 September, Saturday | Boston, MA
L 12-21 New Haven A @ Boston A
L ?-??  New Haven B @ Boston B

Well the field was a bit sloppy and the play followed suit.  Down 4 starters
and two key reserves the team was in a bit of disarray and it showed early
and often as the boys were not able to respond to the adversity.  An early
try got the Boston team started.  New Haven bounced back with a brilliant
try from Andrew (Tui) Osborne who probably had the best game of anyone on
the team.  Although bottled up on offense for the most part his defense had
the opposing #13 stymied.  A second try from the Captain deep inside Boston
territory gave the visitors a glimmer of hope, but the momentum was never
really sustained.

Game summary

10 September, Saturday | East Shore Park | New Haven, CT
W 36-20 New Haven A vs Worcester A
W 33-0  New Haven B vs Worcester B

As opening games go it really does not get any better then The WOO v. New
Haven.  Two rivals who battled in DII for years went on to DI and continue
to play tight matches with great endings.  Worcester coming off a 3rd place
finish in the 2005 DI national playoffs and New Haven coming off a
disappointing early exit from those same playoffs.  Early in last year's
playoffs these two teams played a hard fought 13-7 match which was just one
of many which ended in a slim margin of defeat for the Old Blacks.
